Definitive Technology
Definitive Technology is a manufacturer of audio products best known for their home theater speakers. The company also produces a wide range of other products such as headphones, custom installation sound systems and wireless music systems. The company is headquartered in Vista, California and in 2006, was acquired by Directed Electronics.
==Background==
Definitive Technology was founded by a dedicated group of audiophiles including Sandy Gross in 1990 in Baltimore Maryland. Definitive Technology's first product in 1990 was a bipolar tower loudspeaker. The BP10 was the first step in building the company that stands 25 years later as one of the bestselling and most honored brand of audiophile-grade loudspeakers in the USA. Later, Definitive Technology pioneered the concept of "powered towers" by incorporating powered subwoofers into Bipolar floor-standing speakers and dubbed them "SuperTowers.” Audio critics and consumers alike praise Definitive Technology loudspeakers for their superior materials, precise workmanship and uncompromising sound quality. Definitive Technology was acquired by DEI Holdings in 2004. It was subsequently acquired by Charlesbank as part of the Sound United family of brands in 2011.
